Our communications system was built and engineered entirely in‑house with one purpose in mind: supporting the greater good of Southern Illinois. Whether it’s a large public service event or a critical emergency situation, our network is designed to keep people connected when it matters most.
At its core, the system operates on a DMR IP Site Connect network, linking multiple wide‑area sites across the region. This gives us reliable coverage throughout Southern Illinois, with active sites in locations such as Harrisburg, Bluford, Cobden, and Virden, plus additional temporary and mobile repeater assets when needed.
The system supports both routine coordination and emergency operations, including dedicated channels for EMA, ARES, and events. The system allows seamless communication for volunteers, responders, and support teams—whether they’re tracking incidents, coordinating events, or relaying real‑time updates from the field.
Because the system is fully self‑hosted and locally managed, we can adapt quickly, expand as needed, and ensure that our community always has a dependable communications backbone ready to serve.
